How to clean the bathroom fan - Type A

There are two types of bathroom fans at the Renaissance:

Type A
Type B
This page refers to Type A
1) Select the humidity control to the “Off” position as this can make the fan come on at preset times. The humidity control unit is usually located in the first closet near the entry
2) Make sure the fan switch is also off.
3) Pull firmly down on the fan cover. It will stop within a few inches from the ceiling.
4) Squeeze the two wire tabs together and push them away from their holder. Do the same for the other side.
5) Unplug the power.
6) Remove the screw for the fan assembly.
7) Remove the fan assembly.
8) Vacuum the fan blades.
9) Use a toothbrush to get in between the blades. Do not get water on the motor. If you want to wash the fan blade drum refer to the following optional steps.
10) ***Optional step if you want to wash the blades. Insert a long Allen key or a large Robertson (square) screwdriver between the fan blades.
11) ***Optional step continued. Loosen the screw.
12) ***Optional step continued. Slide the fan blade drum off the shaft.
13) ***Optional step continued.
14) ***Optional step continued. Replace fan blade drum and re-insert screw.
14) Admire your work!
15) Repeat steps to install.
